Can individuals on Medicaid use the Florida Discount Drug Card?

No, because Florida’s Medicaid program provides comprehensive coverage of prescription and some over-the-counter medications. While certain Medicaid consumers may be subject to a small co-pay for specified drugs, in most cases the total cost of the prescription is covered by Medicaid and at no cost to the consumer. However, if you are in the process of spending down your assets – meaning you are using your own money to pay for medical costs until Medicaid coverage begins – the Florida Discount Drug Card can be used until you become eligible for the Medicaid benefit.

To see if you are eligible for Medicaid, please call:
1-866-76ACCESS (1-866-762-2237) or TTY Users may call 1-877-486-2048.
